Performing Arts (Acting) (Advanced) Level 3

This study programme will help you to acquire general skills, knowledge and understanding of theatre, musical theatre, classical and contemporary performance. The programme will focus on developing skills in characterisation, improving vocal and movement technique, introduce you to the work of key practitioners and offer opportunities to take part in a range of performance pieces.

“My sister had attended Bedford College and had really enjoyed her course so it was an obvious choice for me after my GCSEs. I also knew that I wanted to pursue a career in performing arts so A-Levels didn’t make sense to me, the Performing Arts BTEC that the College offered was much more suitable.  What I particularly liked about the course was that it touched on every aspect of performance not just drama but also areas such as musical theatre and script writing.”

“I found that College had a very different atmosphere to school and the teachers treated me as an equal.  They didn’t shout at the class or talk down to us, as sometimes happened in school.  They knew that everyone in College wanted to be there and wanted to work hard.”

“The performing arts teachers were amazing.  They have all worked in the industry for many years so they know what the ‘real-world’ is like and they gave me lots of advice about auditions, working with directors and the experience of being on stage.  Even after I left, the tutors supported me with my application and audition for Rose Bruford College which is one of the UK’s best drama schools and where Gary Oldman trained.  I’m delighted to have been accepted on a course there and really grateful for all the support and advice my Bedford College teachers gave me.”
