This course is suitable for anyone that is currently working in a warehousing and storage environment, or looking to enter a similar logistics role. You will gain the hands on skills you will need to thrive in this environment.

Entry requirements

You should be employed in a relevant warehousing role in any employment sector.

Course content

You will learn about:

  • Health, safety and security
  • Receiving goods and materials into storage
  • Maintaining the quality of goods in storage
  • Dispatching goods and materials
  • Auditing stock levels and stock inventories
  • Picking stock and assemble orders
  • Processing returned goods
  • Maintaining the safety of high risk goods
  • Lifting, transferring & positioning goods
  • Modifying systems for distributing stock

Your on-the-job training will take place in a warehouse environment, where you will perform a range of tasks to help keep the logistics department running smoothly.

Some of the tasks you could expect to take part in include:

  • Picking, wrapping and packing goods
  • Processing customer orders and arranging for their dispatch
  • Checking stock levels and stock records
  • Using machinery such as a forklift truck, side-loader, and compact crane
  • Maintaining hygiene standards in handling and storing goods

Further study and career options

Successful candidates may progress on to Warehousing & Storage Level 3 or a qualification in Team Leading or First Line Management.
