Using a combination of practical and academic approaches, you will learn about operational practice as well as the strategic development of the UK and international travel and tourism. Whether you are new to the travel and tourism business or have experience of working in a related organisation the qualification will enhance your career prospects.

Course content
Your units will cover a range of themes and activities within the industry which are designed to develop your management skills as well as to broaden your knowledge of travel and tourism.
You will study the following units to gain the full HND General Pathway qualification:

- Tourism Consumer Behaviour & Insight
- Airport Operations Management
- Destination Marketing
- Developing the Event Experience
- Sustainable and Responsible Tourism Management
- Tourism Resort Management.
You will be offered the opportunity to participate in trips and visits during the course. These are designed to aid your coursework and enhance your ability to achieve.Assessment methods
Assignments (including timed assessment), presentations, discussions, academic posters, displays, leaflets, recordings of interviews/role plays, working logbooks, reflective journals and work-based projects.

Additional information
There is an opportunity for a Residential visit overseas as well as various other trips. Previous trips have included: Signature Flight Support, the World Travel Market, London, Woburn Safari and Abbey, Jordans Mill, Wrest Park, and destinations in Malta: Bugibba, St Juliens, San Anton Gardens and M’Dina.
There are additional costs of approximately £1,000 for trip fees. This will cover the Residential costs which are in consultation with students. Smaller day trips are a compulsory part of the programme.
