Event Planning Level 2 Certificate

Whether you want to plan a family birthday party, an Easter Egg hunt for a local group, a large corporate experience or anything in between, this course will provide you with all the skills and knowledge you need to run a successful event. Working with others, you will be able to plan, cost and run a successful event. You will have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice by holding your own team event and evaluate your performance. Experienced tutors will guide you through the process and help you evaluate your own performance for future reference.

Entry requirements

To take part in this course you need to be aged 16 or older, have a passion and enthusiasm for event planning, and have ideas about how you can use the knowledge and skills gained on the course in the future.

Course content

During the course you will study a range of topics, such as:

  • The role of the event planner
  • Teamwork
  • Personal skills and qualities
  • Different types of events (eg corporate, sports, leisure)
  • Venue selection
  • Costing events
  • Planning and running an event
  • Evaluating the event.

As part of the course you will also have the opportunity to organise your own event.

Assessment methods

You will be continually assessed throughout the course via assignments, presentations, portfolio/booklets, holding an event and evaluation.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this course you will be well-prepared to carry out event planning for your organisation, and have a good foundation for progression in a range of careers, such as business, travel and tourism, marketing and events.

If you are aged 19+ you could progress to studying a University Access course, such as Access to Business Management & Travel. Completion of this course will allow you to progress to a university-level course in a related subject.
