Support Work in Schools and Colleges NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award

Introduction to the knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school or college environment. It can apply to the many varied roles that full and part-time support staff may fulfil including: administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles and volunteers, as well as roles that work directly with children and young people in the learning environment.

Entry requirements

You must be at least 16 years old. 

Course content

During the course you will study 6 Mandatory Units:

  • Understand Children & Young People’s Development
  • Understand Communication and Professional Relationships with Children, Young People and Adults
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People
  • Understand Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in work with Children and Young People
  • Understand Schools and Colleges as Organisations
  • Understand Children and Young People’s Health and Safety

Assessment methods

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. You will be expected to attend college/online sessions, once a week for 15 weeks. You will be expected to access an e-portfolio, complete written assignments and activities, and undertake online learning.

Qualifications

NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges 
Further study and career options

Course progression: The Award shares mandatory units with the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification, providing a direct progression route

Career progression: Preparation for employment in a school or college environment
