Plumbing Studies City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma

This Level 3 qualification provides the underpinning knowledge needed to support the NVQ Level 3, provides recognised accreditation for advanced plumbers and access to higher level qualifications

Entry requirements

Students studying this qualification will be expected to have completed the Level 2 Basic Plumbing Studies prior to commencement of this course.

Course content

There are nine units involved in the qualification covering:

  • Systems Design
  • Complex Hot and Cold Water Systems
  • Complex Sanitation Systems
  • Domestic Gas Supply Systems
  • Products and Services within the Plumbing Industry
  • A series of Practical Tasks.

Assessment methods

Most of the units are assessed by exams, however, practical assessments are completed on an on-going basis.

Further study and career options

Successful students would be able to progress to NVQ level 3, specialist vocational qualifications and higher education.

Additional information

Part-time students studying on either a day release or evening only basis would be expected to complete their qualification in two years. Prospective students are required to attend a short interview prior to enrolment.

Funding information

If you are aged 24 or over you may qualify for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable. Find out more about your payment options at
