Beauty Therapy (Massage) Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge to carry out the most popular treatments required by salons: Body Massage, Stone Massage, Indian Head and pre-blended Aromatherapy, as well as self-tanning, health and safety and event planning. You will acquire a very desirable advanced Beauty/Massage Therapy qualification sought especially by spas. You will also have the opportunity to take a separate self-tanning qualification. This apprenticeship is suitable for those who have already completed a Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification.

Entry requirements

Grade requirements:

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*-D or 9-3, including English and maths, plus a full Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy.

Course content

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
  • Implement promotional activities
  • Body massage
  • Stone massage
  • Pre-blend aromatherapy
  • Indian head massage
  • Self-tanning

Assessment methods

You will be assessed via online exams for theory and client-based assessments for the practical units.


You will gain the following qualifications:
Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3 Diploma – Massage Route


  • English and Maths
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities.

Further study and career options

Further study: On successful completion of this course you could progress on to higher education, such as a foundation degree in business, salon management or other programmes.

Future careers: You could also progress into employment as a senior massage therapist or other massage-related job roles.

Additional information

You will be required to pay for your uniform (£41.60) and kit (£69.80), full details of which will be explained to you on application.

Next steps
