Technical & Professional (Civil Engineering) Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. By following the Civil Engineering for Technicians pathway you will develop the skills, knowledge and competence you will need to carry out the duties of a Civil Engineering Technician in the workplace. Entry requirements
Grade requirements: You will need to have GCSE grades A*- C in English and maths, or equivalent.
Other requirements: Previous construction based qualifications or experience with the construction sector is desirable but not essential.

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:
- Construction and the built environment
- Further mathematics in construction
- Science and materials
- Construction technology and design
- Surveying in construction and civil engineering
- Structural analysis and design
Assessment methods
You will be assessed through a variety of methods which include exams, research and assignments, and there will also be some practical elements of assessment.

Further study: On successful completion you could progress on to the Higher apprenticeship in Construction Site Management at Bedford College.
Career progression: You will have more advanced skills to progress on to a role as a civil engineering technician.
Additional information
You will need steel toe capped boots, a high viz vest and usual study stationary.
The College part of this apprenticeship will start in September, however you will be able to start the work based learning element at any time throughout the year.
