Microsoft ADM Windows Server 2012 (70-411)

This course will prepare you for the second certification exam in the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) series: Administering Windows Server 2012 (70-411). The course is ideal if you are interested in gaining further certification in Windows Server 2012 administration and support. As well as weekly classes you will gain access to a variety of Microsoft software and e-learning materials.

Entry requirements

As this is a technical course you should be comfortable with using a PC, and preferably have some experience in supporting earlier Microsoft network operating systems and computer networks, either as part of your work or informally.

Course content

During the course you will study a variety of topics, including:

  • Administration of Windows Server 2012, including Active Directory, Group Policy, Network Access Protection and Network Policy Server Configuration
  • Monitoring and updating servers
  • Deploying and maintaining server images
  • Managing accounts and Group Policy
  • Managing updates and monitoring servers.

A further Windows Server 2012 course will be available in the next semester. A CompTIA Network+ course will also be available on another day in the week, which will provide you with further knowledge and skills in computer networking.

Assessment methods

Formative assessment will consist of the completion of lab exercise in class. You may also elect to undertake an optional online Microsoft test at a Prometric testing centre for an additional fee of approximately £50.

Further study and career options

On completion of this course you will have the opportunity to undertake further courses within the Microsoft Academy at Bedford College leading to Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) status.

There are no additional costs associated with this course – any required software will be provided.
