The aim of this qualification is to increase the IT skills of people working in a wide range of industries. As you progress through this qualification you will be able to demonstrate that you have the necessary practical skills, knowledge and competence to work effectively and efficiently with a range of IT packages.

Course content

To achieve this qualification, you must complete one mandatory unit and a number of optional units:

  • Mandatory Unit - Make selective use of IT

Optional Units - A further number of units have to be completed from a selection such as:

  • Use IT systems
  • Operate a computer
  • IT trouble-shooting for users
  • IT maintenance for users
  • IT security for users
  • Artwork and imaging software
  • Internet and intranets
  • E-mail
  • Word processing software
  • Spreadsheet software
  • Database software
  • Website software
  • Presentation software
  • Specialist or bespoke software
  • Evaluate the impact of IT
  • Use IT to exchange information
  • Sector specific unit
