Working with People with Mental Health Needs TQUK Level 2 Certificate

This online course will enable you to gain additional skills and a qualification without disrupting your day-to-day life. You will have access to specialist support from dedicated tutors throughout the programme.

Course content

Whilst studying this course, you will look into the standards required to work in the mental health sector and what factors support good practice. You will also investigate how you can develop within your own work role. You will expand your knowledge on the need for positive mental health and the effects mental health problems can have on individuals. You will also investigate the different types of mental health problems and associated symptoms. You will explore issues relating to duty of care within the context of adult health and social care, gain an understanding of possible conflicts and the dilemmas faced between duty of care and individuals rights.

You will also be able to recognise and report unsafe practice. You will investigate the key features and principles of the care planning process and identify aspects of good practice, including the key components of a risk assessment and the requirements of a mental health assessment. You will also familiarise yourself with the agencies involved in the care process. You will develop your understanding on how mental health change occurs. You will look at the support available and the role of the support worker and others. Treatment options will be investigated as well as identifying support and resources available to those experiencing mental health problems.

Assessment methods

You will be provided with a resource pack with assessment booklets to complete. There is also an option to study this course online via our bespoke e-learning portal.

Please note that an administration charge of £100 will be charged if learners do not complete the course within the allocated 16 weeks.
