Prevention & Control of Infection Level 2 Award (NCFE)

This qualification aims to familiarise learners with infection control legislation and policies. It will develop understanding of the causes of infections, the conditions in which they thrive and the ways that they can be spread. It will also develop understanding of the methods of cleaning and waste disposal that help prevent the spread of infection. It will introduce learners to the hand washing techniques and personal protective equipment they should use to help prevent the spread of infection.


Course content

This qualification consists of three mandatory units: • Unit 1 – The principles of infection prevention and control • Unit 2 – Causes and spread of infection • Unit 3 – Cleaning, decontamination and waste management

Additional information

Candidates should complete within approx. 4 to 5 months.
