Health & Social Care City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma

This qualification is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workforce, for those new to the Health and Social Care sector.

Entry requirements

You need to be working in the Health & Social Care sector and hold a Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care.

Course content

This qualification confirms competence in these areas for roles such as:

  • Care assistant
  • Support worker
  • Key workers in the residential settings
  • Healthcare assistant
  • Support workers in community, primary care and acute health environments.

Candidates must achieve a total of 58 credits and choose a pathway relevant to their job roles.

The pathways are:

  • Generic
  • Dementia
  • Learning disabilities.

A suite of units are available according to each pathway. A minimum of 18 units will need to be achieved.

Further study and career options

It is anticipated candidates will progress to Level 5 qualifications for management or senior practitioner roles in Health & Social Care, or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which they work.
