Team Leading Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bedford College

This apprenticeship is ideal if you are a practising or aspiring team leader and want to develop your skills and knowledge. The qualification you gain will be beneficial if you are working in retail, for charities, or for sport, youth or other local groups. You will cover topics to help you become an effective team leader such as developing yourself, developing a team and building relationships. As a qualified team leader you will be able to gain employment in a number of industries from customer service to manufacturing.

Entry requirements

Grade requirements: You will need a minimum of three GCSEs at grades A*-D including English and maths.

Course content

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Being a team leader
  • Providing customer service
  • Team performance
  • Building work relationships
  • Team development

Assessment methods

You will be assessed by work-based assignments.


You will gain the following qualifications:

Team Leading CMI Level 2 Certificate


  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Functional Skills in English and maths

Further study and career options

Further study: Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship you could go on to study the First Line Management CMI Level 3 Diploma

Future careers: Alternatively you can move into a team leading role – team leaders are in demand in a number of areas, including customer service, call centre operations and manufacturing.

Next steps

To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must either be employed on a full-time contract by an employer willing to support your training or have an offer of employment as an apprentice. Bedford College can help you find a job role with an employer if you don’t already have one.
