Human Resource Management Higher Apprenticeship Level 5

HR Level 5 Apprenticeship at Bedford College

This apprenticeship programme is designed to develop high-performing Human Resources (HR) professionals in existing job roles or to attract bright individuals into HR. Upon completion, you will be eligible for Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). The qualification is suitable for existing staff in a variety of HR roles, including HR Executive, HR Officer, Assistant HR Manager, and Assistant HR Advisor, or new staff going into these roles. 

Entry requirements

Grade requirements: You must have GCSE English and maths A*-C or 9-4.

Other requirements: You will need a strong interest in what makes businesses successful and how to get the best out of people. Good analytical skills and the ability to work with colleagues to earn their trust and respect are also important. The CIPD Level 5 Diploma requires that learners are a minimum of 18 years old; this requirement has been put in place due to the level of maturity required to manage sensitive HR issues.

Course content

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Developing Professional Practice in Human Resources
  • Understanding the Business Context of Human Resources
  • Using a Research Approach in Human Resources
  • Understanding the Contemporary Human Resources Function
  • Understanding Employment Law

Assessment methods

You will need to complete CIPD National Assessment Bank assessments which incorporate five core units, six knowledge units and five competence units assessed in a Portfolio of Evidence.

Assessment will include written reports, presentation, briefing paper, handouts.

Qualifications

You will gain the following qualifications:

Applied Human Resources Level 5 Diploma

Further study and career options

Further study: On successful completion, you may wish to pursue a Level 7 qualification in HR Management.

Future careers: Future roles that may be open to you include HR Manager/Director, Operations Manager/Director.

Additional information

There is a mandatory CIPD joining fee of £40 and membership fee of approximately £100 annually. The purchase of core textbooks is recommended to support your studies (these are optional and discount is available for students from the CIPD).
