Business Skills NVQ Level 2 Certificate

This qualification is suitable for candidates who use a variety of business skills to carry out their responsibilities at work. Candidates will be required to demonstrate to demonstrate competence in administration and customer service functions, but will also have the opportunity to demonstrate competence across a broader range of work activities. The qualifications have been accredited to the Qualifications and Credit Framework and have particular benefits for both learners and learning providers, such as, for example: More choice and flexibility. Opportunity to transfer credit between qualifications. More transparency in terms of the size and level of commitment needed to achieve the qualification. More clarity in terms of progression pathways.

Entry requirements

You must be employed in a business administration or Customer Service role in order to take this qualification.

Course content

This qualification forms part of a suite of Business Skills qualifications which assess someone's competence (that is the skills, knowledge and understanding they have) within a work situation. The qualifications accredit cross-sector skills and comprise units taken from the business and administration, customer service, management, sales and marketing and health and safety national occupational standards. Each unit has been given a level and credit value and candidates will, within the constraints of the specific rules of combination for the qualification, be able to combine units from these sectors into a qualification that reflects their job role or interest.

As such the qualifications are particularly appropriate for candidates who need a variety of business skills, at different levels of commitment, to carry out their job responsibilities at work. To achieve this qualification, candidates must achieve at least 34 credits overall, 21 of which must be achieved at level 2. Candidates need to achieve at least 12 credits from Group A and at least 5 credits from Group B. The remaining 17 credits can be achieved from either Group A or Group B or Group C or a mixture of Groups A, B and C.

  • Manage your resources.

    Candidates will have the opportunity to progress within the suite of qualifications. For example, a candidate achieving an OCR Level 2 Certificate in Business Skills In addition candidates can widen their skills and undertake other OCR work-based qualifications.
