Land-based Forklift Truck Operations (Rough Terrain, Mast & Telescopic) NPTC Level 2 Award

This qualification will appeal to those who use a forklift as part of their work in agriculture, horticulture or distribution and warehousing. It will cover the “basic training” requirements of the Approved Code of Practice for Rider Operated Forklift Trucks. This does not replace any legal requirement for a driving licence.

Course content

During the course you will study the following topics:

  • Machine maintenance
  • Site inspection
  • Identification of hazards
  • Environmental factors
  • Safe use of equipment
  • Machine after-care.

Assessment methods

The assessment will normally take place within 14 days of the training and covers the associated differences between use, operation and maintenance of the machine, pre-use maintenance and safety checks, recognition of controls and instruments.  You will take a practical test where the forklift is driven around a suitable course and the operator will be required to move and stack various loads. The test will also include one to one verbal questioning.

Additional information

To take part in this course you must bring PPE (personal protective equipment) and other tools and equipment as listed on the joining instructions. You can also view the PPE and tools list here. These will be emailed to you a few weeks before the course is due to start – please contact us to confirm you have the required items.
