Clearing 2020

Bedford College Clearing

If you’re looking to take your learning to the next level after completing your A-Levels or Level 3 qualification, or you’re already in employment and want to enhance your career, we have a fantastic selection of higher education courses in a diverse range of subject areas starting soon.

The new academic year is fast approaching but it’s not too late to apply for courses beginning this September. We have a limited number of places still available in many subjects – they are filling up fast, so apply now to avoid disappointment!

Clearing: what you need to know

To make an application for one of our higher education courses, call our clearing hotline:

01234 291000

Before calling you’ll need to know:

  • The course you want to study (and the course code if possible) – you can see the courses currently available at the bottom of this page
  • Details and results of your Level 3 qualifications (i.e. A-Levels, BTECs or equivalent) or any other prior learning
  • If possible, your 10-digit UCAS ID number and your 6-digit Clearing number.

When you call us we will let you know whether you will be able to join your chosen course and advise you on what you need to do to finalise your application. It’s important that you contact us yourself, rather than a parent or guardian on your behalf, as we will need to speak to you directly.

» Why choose Bedford College?

Study now, pay later

Career-focused courses
Our higher education qualifications are designed in partnership with employers to develop the skills that your chosen industry or profession really needs – which means everything you learn at Bedford College will help boost your long-term career prospects.

Save money
Higher education courses offered at Bedford College cost less than many university courses – giving you better value for money and making degree-level learning much more affordable.

» Your exam results

If you have already applied for a course through UCAS you can check your UCAS Track page from Thursday 13 August (the day A-Level results are published), which will be updated with our final confirmation decision on your application. The exam results of some courses, such as our University Access courses, are not received automatically by UCAS, so we will not be able to immediately confirm your application online. See the list of qualifications that can be confirmed online, and call our hotline to inform us of your results if your qualifications don’t appear on this list.

If you have achieved the results you expected and have had your place confirmed, then congratulations! You don’t need to contact us – we will send you a confirmation letter shortly with more details about beginning your course.

If you have not achieved the exam results you expected then don’t panic! You may still be able to study your chosen course – you will need to log in to your UCAS Track page to check that you can begin the Clearing process and to obtain your Clearing number, and then call our hotline as soon as possible to discuss your options.

If you have not yet applied for a course through UCAS then call our hotline with all your key information to hand and we can discuss what you need to do to make an application.

» HNCs & HNDs – see what's available

These qualifications are work-related higher education qualifications, providing a vocational alternative to degree-level learning. HNC/Ds can lead straight to a career in industry, or you can convert this qualification into a Bachelor’s Degree at university with extra study (HNCs can allow entry into the second year of a degree, while HNDs can allow entry into the second or third year). HNC/Ds are mainly assessed through assignments, projects and practical tasks that you complete throughout the course – not through exams.

» Foundation Degrees – see what's available

Foundation Degrees are higher education qualifications designed with a particular area of work in mind, developed with help from employers. These qualifications are equivalent to the first two years of a full-time Bachelor's Degree. Through our partnership with the University of Bedfordshire you can progress on to the final year of a degree following completion of the course. Foundation Degrees assess your work in different ways and involve project work, reports, exams, practical work and presentations.

Each of our degree programmes are validated by, and lead to an award of, one of our partner universities – either the University of Bedfordshire or The University of Northampton. If you have graduated with a Foundation Degree or HND in the same subject, you can go on to study with one of our partner universities in order to top-up your existing qualification to a full Bachelor’s degree.
