Bedford College March Taster Event (14–18 only)

Aged 14 – 18? Our Taster Event is a great way to find out more!

Come along to find out what college is really like and find your perfect study programme. Talk to tutors, tour our campus and get impartial careers advice. You will be able to book onto two different taster sessions in the following subjects:

Art & Design, Business, Care & Childcare, Computing, Construction, Electrical Installation, Engineering, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & Catering, Motor Vehicle, Performing Arts, Music & Media, Public Services, Sport & Fitness, Travel & Tourism


Taster sessions will take place at: Bedford College, Cauldwell Street, Bedford MK42 9AH

With the exception of Hair & Beauty and Motor Vehicle where Taster Sessions will take place at:

BROOKS Hair & Beauty, 85 High Street, Bedford MK40 1NE
Vehicle Technology Centre, Triumph Way, Woburn Road Industrial Estate, Kempston, Bedford MK42 7QB

Each taster session will run twice throughout the evening. The first session will start at 5.00pm and the second will start at 6.20pm. Taster sessions are approximately one hour each. Individuals can book up to two different sessions.

All sessions must be pre-booked before the event, and individuals should arrive 15 minutes before their taster session begins.

Tutors will be able to answer any questions after the taster session has finished. If you have any additional requirements our Student Services team will be available on the day.

What can I do at an Open Day?
Whether you’ve already applied or have no idea what you want to study yet, our Open Days are perfect for you! You can get a real feel of student life. Tutors will also be on hand to explain in depth about courses and our Student Services team will also be there to offer advice on careers, transport, finance, wellbeing and more.

What sites/campuses will be open?
The Bedford College Open Day is primarily located at the Cauldwell Street campus. Get directions.

Interested in Hair & Beauty?
You can go straight to BROOKS Hair & Beauty, 85 High Street, Bedford MK40 1NE. Get directions.

Interested in Motor Vehicle?
Head to our Vehicle Technology Centre. Get directions.

Interested in Plumbing & Gas?
Unfortunately our Gas & Plumbing Technology Centre will not be open for this Taster Event, but will be at our following Open Day in April.

Interested in Land-based courses?
If you’re interested in Land-based courses, then you will need to attend our separate Shuttleworth College Open Day. If you can’t make our next Shuttleworth College Open Day, there will be a representative available to speak to at the Bedford College Open Day.

What subject areas will be represented?
Every subject area we offer at the College will be in attendance at the Open Day. For a full list, check out the subjects we offer.

What if I want to study A-Levels, do Bedford College offer them?
If you wish to study A-Levels, then we recommend visiting The Bedford Sixth Form on Bromham Road, Bedford. View their future Open Day dates.

What if I’m deaf/hard of hearing?
We may have a signer available at the Open Day who can communicate via British Sign Language.  Please check with us first by emailing

What if I am a wheelchair user?
The majority of areas within the College are accessible to everyone. If you have any concerns, please ring us on 01234 291000.

Do I have to be there for the duration of the event?
Of course not! You can drop in at any time and stay for as long or as little as you wish.

How do I apply for a course?
You will be able to apply on the day, and staff will be on hand to help you, or if you prefer, you can also apply online when you get home.

Do I have to pre-register to be able to come?
Everyone is welcome at our Open Days whether you’ve pre-registered or not! By pre-registering you get the benefit of beating the queues as you won’t have to fill out a registration card when you arrive.

Does my entire family have to pre-register?
No, only prospective students are required to register to attend an Open Day.
