National win adds up

Tuesday 21 June 2016

Bedford College has won a national award for its work in training accountants. It took the prize as the AAT Large Provider of the Year at an event in London beating competition from across the UK.

With qualified teaching staff who are also accountancy accredited with real experience in the business world, Bedford College is “greater than the sum of its parts”.

It offers training and support in the advanced areas demanded by employers and guides people towards Higher education or degree-level options. AAT provision is offered at all levels from apprenticeships to full and part-time courses.

Bedford College is an example of robust financial management which means it continues to thrive where other educational establishments falter. College CEO Ian Pryce CBE is an accountant by background and was the first Finance Director to be appointed as Principal of an FE College in England. He was recently appointed a Fellow of the CIPFA.

Ian Pryce said: “To receive an award from a professional body such as the AAT demonstrates that the team are delivering courses which meet employer and business demands which in turn supports the local and wider economy.”
