Archbishop at Shuttleworth

Monday 29 June 2015

The Most Rev and Rt Hon Justin Welby met with Bedford College Principal and CEO Ian Pryce CBE and Shuttleworth Director Mike Johnston, together with staff and students.

As the Archbishop is the Primate of All England and the symbolic head of the worldwide Anglican Communion, it was fitting that he also met with students from Africa who were at Shuttleworth College thanks to the Marshal Papworth Trust. He talked to them about his teaching experiences in Kenya.

The Marshal Papworth students had earlier been filmed by the BBC's Countryfile programme for a story about how they were taking UK farming best practice back to their home country. This programme will be screened on Sunday July 5th.

Said Mike Johnston: “It was inspirational to see young people being so articulate and optimistic about their roles and futures in the rural sector. The Archbishop heard presentations by

those training and already working in this sector in and around Bedfordshire.”
