WOW at World Skills thanks to Bedford College team

Thursday 14 November 2013

A ‘working with animals’ stand run by Shuttleworth College added an “I’m a Celebrity get me out of here” type guessing game to the World Skills Show at the NEC.

Visitors to the stand had to put their hands in a box and guess which “creature” was inside while others were able to discuss a career caring for animals.

Meanwhile in the construction and engineering section the Bedford College electrical team were sparking as they showed young visitors what was involved that sort of job. A wiring a plug competition proved a challenge for many.

And over in the competition section of the huge NEC arena, which was expected to attract 80,000 school children over two days November 14th and 15th, Bedford College plumbing trainee Fabio Crusco was in the finals of a national challenge.

Bedford College was among the premier FE colleges at the event, which is a show case for UK future skills training.

Ian Pryce CBE CEO and Principal of Bedford College said: “Bedford College is highly regarded across the UK and being a integral part of this event demonstrates our world class learning environment.”

Technology training is embedded into the learning experience of students. To demonstrate this at the show Animal Welfare students from Shuttleworth College will be using technology tablets to share their knowledge and expertise of creatures in their care.
