Hair show a storming success

Friday 24 May 2013

World weather was the theme of the most fantastic range of climatic creations at the annual end of year Bedford College hair and beauty show.

From Spring blossoms to Autumn leaves, volcanic ash clouds to the wildest electrical storms, the weather was represented on the stage and catwalk at the Bedford Corn Exchange on Thursday May 23rd.

The event began earlier in the day with a range of industry expert judges assessing the technical merits of the work of students. At the end of the night time parade in front of 100s of parents and friends, awards were given to best. Most hair and beauty students are female but an important category of ‘barbering for men’ was judged by Ory Resinato of Jagged Edge.

Principal and Chief Executive Ian Pryce said: “I am always saying I have the best job in Bedford and tonight that is more true than ever. What a beautiful students we have, talented and creative.”

Bedford College hair and beauty students, trainees and apprentices work within the High Street environment of the BROOKS spa. This is a real working environment, with paying customers, as well as supervised training.

Every year students go on to secure full time jobs, on-going apprentices and valuable work experience to help them into the careers of their choice.
