Commander Pryce busking in Bedford

Monday 29 July 2013

Bedford College staff and students were in action during the BIG town centre Saturday on July 27th.

With activities aimed at families being staged as part of the Big High Street Showcase, BROOKS beauticians set up a stall for nail-painting and beauty tips.

College Principal and CEO Ian Pryce took park in the BedfordBID Love Bedford busking project, collecting cash for the local Sue Ryder charity. It’s not every day you see a Commander of the British Empire busking. Others connected to the college joined in the street sounds scene.

Meanwhile the BedFringe activity continued across the whole town with Bedford College student and magician Lewis Joss selling out at the South Bank Arts Centre on the BIG Saturday night.

Bedford College hosted three BedFringe events at the South Bank Arts Centre.

Lewis Joss is a Bedford College Performing Arts student and a member of the Magic Circle Youth Initiative.

Only 17, Lewis (Joss is his stage surname) learned his first card tricks from his granddad and then upgraded via Magic Kits which came as Christmas presents. Now he mixes in magical celebrity circles with Paul Daniels and Derren Brown and is a member of Equity.

On Friday July 26th it was Snapshots – an evening of Chinese traditional dance and music.

On Thursday July 25th Malodrama: Never Was – a heavy progressive rock band.
