Learning to love the High Street

Wednesday 4 December 2013

High Street champion Greg Warwick was invited to present the prizes at the annual Bedford Learning Centre awards ceremony.

Greg, who is a member of the Love Bedford Improvement District (BID) Board and one of the Portas Town Team, is a graduate of the learning facility.

He took time out from his High Street hairdressing business, Jeeves, to study IT at the nearby centre and since has used those skills to run and promote his business.

Now a fan of Facebook advertising, Greg told the assembled group: “This training is vital for businesses. One helpful tip: remember the back button as it will return you to the point before it all went wrong!”

Greg calls the Bedford Learning Centre “the college of knowledge” and helped representatives of Bedford College, which runs the centre with IT support from Bright Learning Solutions, to present the certificates.

Bedford College Principal and CEO Ian Pryce CBE said: “The feedback we have is that people who would otherwise not go to the main college campus in Cauldwell Street will go to our learning centres in Bedford, Luton, Rushden and Milton Keynes. They like the friendly, adult setting and say great things about our staff.”

Bedford Learning Centre is in the High Street and was praised by Mary Portas when she visited the town as an example of the ‘future’.
