Gail Cocozza

Gail Cocozza, Mentoring in Education Diploma

“Having worked at Bedford College for over 18 years I have a good knowledge of the study opportunities available. I chose to study on the Mentoring in Education Diploma as I believed it would not only be challenging but useful in my own personal development at the College.”

“I had already been mentoring at the College for a number of years however I wanted to study formally to see what I could learn.  I have been surprised about how much I have gained from the course and the things I have learnt have made an impact on my everyday job role, especially from a managerial view.”

“I worked as a plasterer for 10 years but I always had the dream of working in teaching. I decided to take the plunge by joining Bedford College on the Access to Advanced Studies course; this course improved my general and core skills which gave me the confidence to progress onto the Access to Teacher Education course which I am really enjoying.”

“Teaching remains the big goal for me and I am looking forward to starting university next year – that’s another good thing about Bedford College, they have great links to the University of Bedfordshire which should hopefully help me to secure a place on a teaching course.”

Cleveland Thompson

Cleveland Thompson, Access to Higher Education Level 3 (Teacher Education)

“I chose to study at Bedford College as there wasn’t a large array of other Colleges offering Access courses. The course ties into my progression towards University, and is a good stepping stone towards a teaching degree.”

“The Access course is an open age limit, which is great as you don’t feel out of place for being a mature student. Resources here at the College are plentiful. I have access to a wide range or computers and books for research, and the College Support System is great for help with coursework and 1-to-1 tuition. After College, I would like to study for a teaching degree at University, and then onto employment as a school teacher.”

Fiona Cameron-Mackintosh

“Following an accident, I could no longer do the previous job I had been doing for 20 years. Therefore I decided to retrain, and the College provided a solution that was both local for me and provided good disabled facilities.”

“I use the Mezz and BROOKS, and also enjoy the enrichment facilities. I think my course is great as it covers a wide range of subjects, and I’m also a member of the Student Council. After my course I am hoping to move on to a Forensic Science course.”
