Sport, Outdoor Adventure & The Public Services
Introduction
Working in the sport industry or in the public services means
you will always be part of a huge team effort – whether it is as
part of a sector relied upon by the government to help fight
obesity and illness in the country or as a police officer,
fire-fighter or member of the armed forces.
These areas benefit from strong government
backing – public services are essential roles without which society
would be in crisis, and with the 2012 Olympics fast approaching, it
comes as no surprise that around 620,000 people are currently
employed in the sports and fitness industry. There are roles for
various tastes and abilities in both sectors, but public services
workers will also have to be fit as the working environment can be
physically dangerous. These jobs will call for you to enjoy a
challenge, be level-headed and have good communication skills,
too.
If you are highly motivated, energetic and
dynamic, our Sport and Public Services courses will enable you to
study and specialise in subjects including sport, outdoor leisure,
development and fitness, the armed forces and the police, fire and
prison services.
You will learn the vital skills you will need
to get your first job and start a promising career. Many of our
students also take the opportunity to gain additional
qualifications, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and health
for life and drug awareness qualifications.
