Social Sciences
Introduction
If you are interested in people, how they
react and the institutions to which they belong, then studying a
social science subject will enable to explore the society in which
we live. Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour,
while Sociology will give you the opportunity to build your
understanding of modern society and social inequality and
difference.
Social sciences are particularly relevant if
you think you would like to pursue a career that is people based,
such as education, nursing, counselling, teaching or emergency
services. You can study at GCSE, AS and A Level and an A Level
qualification in either of these subjects will also provide access
to a range of degree level studies. We also offer an Access course
in Social Work and Crime Psychology. These subjects demonstrate to
an employer that you have an enquiring mind, a sound understanding
of people and society and excellent analytical, writing and
mathematical skills.
