“My school’s sixth form did not suit me, so I left after one year. I enrolled with Bedford College on the recommendation of a friend’s dad.

“I’m glad that I chose Bedford College as the tutors have a really good attitude. I feel like I am treated more like an adult and I have much more independence.

“I enjoy my course because I’m passionate about cars. To me it is more interesting than doing a mechanics qualification, as I enjoy the painting and polishing aspects of my course. It is very satisfying to make a car look brand new after it has been damaged.

“I plan to continue my job as a paint technician, but eventually I would like to open my own garage.”

"When I completed my GCSEs I knew that I wanted to get into the motor industry. School couldn’t offer me any suitable courses so I knew that College would be my best option.

"I looked at a few different colleges but Bedford College had the best facilities as they have a separate Motor Vehicle centre in Kempston which was close to home and just a couple of stops away on the bus.

"I’m studying Body & Paintwork at the moment, which is actually really interesting, we work on real cars and we even have a racing car in the garage at the moment!

"I’m planning to continue to develop my skills; I’ll probably study on the Level 2 & 3 courses part-time so that I can get into work sooner."
