Motor Vehicle
Introduction
Working in this vast and vital industry means you could find
yourself selling Jaguars, rescuing someone from a breakdown,
respraying the wing of a car, or assessing the damage after an
accident for an insurance claim. You will need manual and
mechanical expertise, but communication skills are vital too as
you’ll be dealing with members of the public every day. If you like
the idea of working in lots of different places there are roles
that will require travel – and others that will involve shift work
and antisocial hours; but cars are an essential item for the
majority of households and businesses and therefore the prospects
are good.
If you have a keen interest in this area and
want to learn all the principles, skills and techniques you need to
get started in the trade, you will find our dedicated vehicle
training centre in Kempston a great place to develop your knowledge
and experience. We offer courses in motor vehicle maintenance and
motorcycle maintenance and repair, with qualifications at a variety
of levels – including apprenticeships – and many of the courses in
this area are run by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI)
If you are already working in the motor
mechanics trade, we offer part-time courses to improve and enhance
your knowledge and skills. If you have a passion for cars,
motorcycles and electronic systems, a motor vehicle course could be
just what you are looking for.
