  You will have the opportunity to attend external subject-related events to give you a broader knowledge and understanding of your chosen area. In 2007/8 our Earth Sciences students benefited from a number of field trips and close ties have been made with one quarry so that our students are able have continuity in their field work for both Geology and Environmental Science.

• Our students really enjoy their lessons

  98% of students studying these subjects believed that their tutors had the most up-to-date knowledge, 100% said their lessons are well planned and 94% said that they find their lessons challenging. This shows that our students believe that they are receiving a high quality education and are happy with the way they are being taught. These opinions were taken from student focus groups, which are carried out regularly to assess how satisfied our students are with their courses – so you know that you will always have the chance to express your opinion.

  Our excellent programme of UCAS support and university visits result in a 69% progression to Higher Education. We have a well-organised tutorial programme, with specialist sessions based around career focus and writing a CV. This shows you that our commitment to your future success extends beyond the classroom.
  

• The results don’t lie
  

  Our AS Geography, Geology and Environmental Science students achieved 100% pass rates in 2007/8. Four out of the nine students taking AS Level Environmental Science achieved an A grade. Eight students studied AS Geography, 6 of whom achieved an A or a B grade. At A Level, pass rates were also 100%. For more detailed information about results, see our results page.
