English, Philosophy & Humanities
Introduction
If you have a mind that is both analytical and creative, you
will find that our wide range of Arts, Humanities and Modern
Language GCSEs and A Levels provide an intellectual challenge and
allow you to develop independent thinking.
We offer courses including French, Spanish,
archaeology, citizenship, communication and culture, critical
thinking, English literature, film studies, history and philosophy.
These subjects often complement the study of law and politics and
the social sciences and can also provide a counterbalance to the
study of pure sciences and mathematics.
A GCSE qualification in English Language is
offered required for teacher training courses and many professions
will expect you to demonstrate that you have a good standard of
literacy. The ability to speak another language is a valuable skill
which will greatly enhance your employment prospects in an
increasingly global business economy. Language skills will also
open up the opportunity to live abroad. What’s more, a
qualification in an Arts, Language or Humanities subject will
demonstrate that you have the ability to process and analyse
complex information and can respond to philosophical ideas with
originality and flair.
