Industry standard equipment
We have fully equipped engineering and aerospace workshops. The
aerospace workshop features a real aeroplane and fuselage for
students to work on, while the engineering workshops are full of
industry tools and the latest in computer aided design (CAD)
software. All our Engineering students have access to the LJ Create
resources.
Earn and learn
Many of our courses give you the opportunity to become a
fully-accredited engineer and are flexible to enable you to gain
experience in a working environment while you study.
Real progression opportunities
On successful completion of a HND course you can progress onto
the third year of a BSc degree in a related subject. In 2008, our
students went on to study Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical
Engineering at a number of well-respected universities including
Southampton, Liverpool and Manchester. Our Aerospace students
progressed to further study at Nottingham, Hertfordshire, Brighton
and Salford.
Excellent links with industry
The department works with high technology companies such as
Lola, Lockheed Martin, Marshall’s Aerospace and has created
tailored National Certificate courses for Thomson Fly, Monarch and
EAU. Apprentices enrolled on HNC/HND Electrical and Electronic
Engineering are employed by local and national engineering firms
with whom the College maintains an excellent training relationship,
including Danfoss Randall and Network Rail.
