Andrew Patching

Andrew, Plumbing NVQ Level 2 (part-time)

“After having several jobs, I decided to come to Bedford College to train to work in plumbing. I travel quite a distance from St. Neots as the Plumbing department is well respected and has its own dedicated Centre.”

“After College I want to get a job at a plumbing firm.”

George Witten

George, Painting & Decorating Level 2

“I have family ties to the construction industry so decided to come and look at the College’s facilities at an Open Day.”

“The course allows for a relaxed, yet challenging working environment that sets you up well for work. This is very important as I’m planning to start my own business in the future.”

Robert Sweet

Robert, Bricklaying Level 1

“I came to a 14+ course Bricklaying course at the College and really enjoyed it. I prefer this kind of work, compared to academic subjects, and the facilities at the College are great. ”

“Other students on my course are great and this creates a friendly atmosphere. I am hoping to progress onto a Bricklaying Apprenticeship and then onto employment.”

James Still

James, Foundation Degree in Sustainable Construction

“I’ve been an architectural technician for 7 years, but the requirements for designing buildings are changing. New legislation makes sustainability key to all our designs and so this was an area I decided I needed to develop.”

“I enrolled on the Foundation Degree in Sustainable Construction course and I have found the course invaluable in showing me how best to implement sustainability. It has also not only explained the new regulations but enabled me to understand the reasons behind the legislation and why the extra work we put in to ensure buildings are sustainable is so important.”

“As far as I am aware Bedford College is the only college locally to offer this course and I have really enjoyed my time at the College. The tutors are great and offer a kind of personal education, talking to you rather than at you.”
