Youth Work

This is an introductory course for those who are considering a career in youth work as a assistant youth worker. An opportunity to attend college 3 hours a week, where you will have the support of a qualified teacher and also meet others who have the same career interest.


What will I need to start?

All you will need to start this course is a Level 1 course (pre-GCSE)


What will I learn on the course?

You will develop skills and knowledge needed to work with young people in a youth work setting.  You may progress onto a certificate in youth work practice and will be given an insight into the career prospects in this area. You will be able to select units relevant to your experience and career needs.


Certificate in Babysitting

This course is designed as a Summer school for those aged 14 or over. The course will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to develop and then promote your babysitting skills, either in the evenings or during the school holidays.


What will I need to start?

You will not need to have any formal qualifications to start this course.


What will I learn on the course?

You will cover a range of topics that will keep both you and the children safe. You will learn a range of skills to meet the care needs of babies and children as well as lots of ideas for play and learning activities. You will also cover the following units:

  • Safety whilst babysitting
  • Managing children’s behaviour whilst baby sitting: This unit will give the students lots of ideas to keep children entertained whilst in their care as well as strategies to avoid challenging behaviour
  • Responsibilities to the parents/carers of the children being cared for
  • First aid awareness
