Student profiles
Lauren, Graphic Design National Diploma Level 2
“After studying at school, I wanted to
specialise, and I already knew that the College had great
facilities for Art, Design & Media students. I wanted to study
a vocational course which would allow me to progress smoothly into
employment after University.”
“Aside from the modern equipment, there are
numerous projects as part of my course, and the chance to enter
competitions and have your work displayed to the public. The art
block within the Centre also provides an environment where you can
work with people and collaborate on a cross-media level. After
college I am going to Buckingham New University to study Creative
Advertising.”
Debbie, 3D Product Design HNC
“Coming to College has been a life changing
experience for me. I originally studied on a Fine Art Foundation
course; this allowed me to experience all aspects of art and
design. before deciding to enrol on the HNC in 3D Product
Design.”
“I looked at a few Colleges but what really
sold Bedford to me (apart from it been easy to get to – right in
the centre of town) were the facilities. The College has a brand
new arts centre which means that we have everything we need, my
personal favourite is the glass kiln which enables me to produce
some great pieces of work.”
“Studying at Bedford College has given me
the confidence to start my own shop. I am now starting to
incorporate a lot of my own work into the shop and I am now
becoming an outlet for other local students and artist to sell to
the public.”
Harriet, Art & Design 1st Diploma
“I’ve always been interested in art and have
practiced photography outside of school. Therefore, coming to
College to do an Art & Design 1st Diploma was a natural
progression. I love that we have our own Centre of the Arts here,
and really enjoy having a wide range of projects where we can input
our own style and direction – as opposed to just learning from
textbooks.”
“I plan to progress onto a Level 3 Photography
course after my 1st Diploma, and in the future, I hope
to be a photographer or tattoo artist.”
Ruben, Art & Design 1st Diploma
“My first experience of Bedford College was
coming to one of their many Open Days. I found this a really
beneficial experience; everybody I spoke to was really helpful, and
I was also able to speak privately with a tutor, and be shown
around the department’s facilities.”
“I find the College a much more independent
learning environment, where you learn the necessary skills to
flourish in a future career. For me that career is definitely
within the art industry, and after my 1st Diploma I will be moving
onto a National Diploma next year, in either Fine Art or Graphic
Design.”
