Bedford College offers a range of means-tested financial support packages to help overcome any barriers that could prevent you from coming to our College.
We have two funding streams...
Funding is mainly provided by the government to help meet specific financial hardship needs that prevents students from taking part in learning. This funding is awarded as a bursary to eligible students. There are also a few organisations who offer financial grants to students who meet their specified criteria.
Government Funded Bursaries
A bursary is money you could get to help to pay for...
- clothing, books and other equipment for your course
- transport and lunch on days you study or train
The bursary you can apply for will normally depend on your household income, age and the type of course you study. Students aged 16-18 can apply for help with the cost of travel, additional course costs and meals.
Adult learners over 19, including students in receipt of the 24+ Advanced Learning Loan can apply for help with the cost of childcare, travel, additional course costs, professional memberships and, in some cases, course fees (excludes those on 24+ Advanced Learning Loan).
Other Grants and Financial Support
The following charity organisations offer financial support if you meet their individual criteria...
- Army FE Bursary
