Seven steps to your application being successful
1. Try it out...
The very best way to find out what Bedford College is really
like is by coming along to one of our Student Experience Days. We
run these days throughout the year and they give you the chance to
shadow a Bedford College student and find out first hand why we are
so popular. To find out more call 01234 291000.
2. Come along to an Open Day...
Open Days are a great way for you to see what Bedford College
can offer you. We hold them throughout the year and you will have
the chance to meet staff and students in addition to having a tour
of our facilities.
3. Carefully choose your course...
Have a good read through of our Full-Time prospectus and
select the course which best suits you.
4. Check course entry requirements...
Once you have chosen your preferred course, it is vital to check
the entry requirements so that you know which level you can start
at. Each course has entry requirements that you must fulfil.
5. Apply online...
Applying for your course online is quick and easy and will only
take a few minutes. Apply by visiting the page of your chosen
course and clicking ‘Apply online’. Alternatively, you can download
an application form and return it, completed, to the College.
6. Attend an interview...
After your application is received, it will be processed. We
will invite you to attend an interview with a tutor who will be
able to answer any questions you may have. Following your
interview, we will write to you again to let you know if you have
been successful and, if so, we will invite you to complete an
acceptance card and return it back to us.
7. Taste of the Action...
Bedford College runs a Taste of the Action programme each year
to give you a little insight into College life and introduce you to
your course. You will be given the chance to look around the
College and meet tutors and fellow students from your course.
Attendance is strongly advised – the next dates are 2nd and 3rd
July 2012.
Don't miss out! The closing date for applications is 31 May
2012
We interview on a first come, first served basis and many
courses fill up early. If you miss the closing date please call us
on 01234 291000 for information on course availability.
Important information
In addition to any qualifications you may
require, an offer of a place on a course is subject to a successful
interview. Depending on the course you have chosen, you may also be
asked to complete a piece of practical or written work as part of
the application process.
We normally only accept learners who are under the statutory
school leaving age of 16, by arrangement with their school.
However, if you will be under 16 on 31 August 2012 and are
interested in a course listed in this prospectus, please ask your
parent or guardian to call the 14-16 Senior Manager on 01234 291000
to discuss the options available to you.
Important information for university-level applications
Some of our university-level (Levels 4 & 5) courses require
you to apply directly to UCAS (University & Colleges Admissions
Service). These courses are clearly marked, so if you are applying
for one, please apply online via the UCAS website (you will not need to
complete a Bedford College application form). For further
information please download our Higher
Education prospectus or alternatively contact our Enquiries
& Guidance Team on 01234 291000.
