The Cauldwell
Street campus of Bedford College is situated on the banks of the
River Great Ouse in Bedford, and provides you with some of the most
up-to-date facilities around.
With the College situated in the heart of Bedford getting here
is easy, major train and bus links are not far from our
doorstep.
Over the past four years, we have invested over £15 million to
provide our students with state-of-the-art facilities and modern
learning environments.
From the South Banks Art Centre to our newly refurbished
Learning Resources Centre, we are confident that the facilities
here at Bedford College will heighten your educational experience
and make your time here all the more enjoyable.
Now newly refurbished,
the LRC provides you with different learning zones to suit you,
however you like to study. There is a quiet zone for if you want to
buckle down and concentrate on your studies and group study zones
for when you and your classmates are working as a team. The LRC
includes over 30,000 items such as books, DVDs and journals as well
as a variety of e-books and e-resources.
The LRC also provides
you with access to 90 computers including PCs, Macs and netbooks
and free WiFi whenever the LRC is open. If you fancy a spot of
studying out of hours, you can access the library services online
24/7 through Moodle, our student intranet. We provide photocopying
and scanning facilities, and our friendly staff are always
available to help you out.
Available to all College
students, you can benefit from the amazing sports facilities on
offer at our £2.5 million Springs Sports Centre. The centre boasts
a full sized sports hall, spacious dance studio and a fully
equipped fitness studio complete with cardiovascular equipment and
weights.
Our £6 million arts centre provides you with
first class teaching facilities complete with cutting-edge industry
standard media and music suites, TV and recording studios, editing
suites, graphic design studio, art gallery and theatre.
Our art gallery provides you a fantastic space
to showcase all your hard work or view an exciting programme of
external work including graphics, painting, installation and
textiles. Our theatre enables you to get involved with some of our
frequent performances and there are regular artist talks and
conferences held in the space.
Remember: you don’t have to study art and design or
performing arts to access these resources – they are open to

If you want to
meet your friends for a coffee between lessons or just grab a bite
to eat, then The Mezz is the place to go. Our refectory and coffee
shop offers you a wide range of meals and snacks, from breakfast
through to 7.00pm. The food includes a range of healthy and
vegetarian options and is great value.
Skyline is the College’s
commercial restaurant located on the fifth floor. If you choose to
study one of our hospitality and catering courses you will work at
Skyline to develop your skills serving paying customers. The
restaurant is open to everyone so even if you don’t study in this
department it is definitely worth a visit – why not take your

Car parking at Bedford
College is limited and not guaranteed. With a permit, parking is
charged at a reduced rate of £1 per day.
Our brand new £1.2 million commercial salon,
BROOKS, is situated on Bedford High
Street in the centre of town. It gives you the chance to develop
your hair and beauty skills with paying customers. Our salon
includes modern hairdressing facilities, several treatment areas
with therapy beds and a nail bar all of which have state-of-the-art
industry equipment.
You will be part of a team delivering a wide range of services
including hair styling, mens barbering, complementary therapies and
various body and facial treatments.
Our dedicated Gas & Plumbing Technology
and Vehicle Technology Centres are situated in Kempston and are
designed to offer you real life working environments. The Vehicle
Technology Centre features a range of vehicles that the students
have chance to work on, from an old camper van to a racing car. The
Gas & Plumbing Technology Centre boasts 21 plumbing bays and 12
airing cupboard spaces, lead burning facilities, a steel pipe area,
an unvented hot water training area and an integrated gas
assessment centre.
Both of these Technology Centres are easily accessible by bus
from the centre of Bedford and there is ample car parking if you
drive.
