Life studying A-Levels

Shelly Ann Fung - A-Level student

A-Level Maths & all Sciences

I live in Luton but my local college didn’t offer the courses I was interested in. I began to look at other colleges online and found Bedford College. I liked the look of the campus so I went for an interview and I was really impressed. I decided that I wanted to come to Bedford College.

I want to be a paediatrician so studying science will help my knowledge of how to deal with children. It helps that the tutors take an interest in student’s individual strengths and weakness and they are also genuinely concerned for our welfare. In my spare time I like to relax in the student common room and whenever I’m not in college I can always keep up with what’s happening in class by logging onto the student intranet. My next step is University to study medicine and achieve my goal of becoming a paediatrician.

A-Level Sociology, Biology & Psychology

Coming to Bedford College was about changing my environment. I wanted a more mature setting which was something school couldn’t offer me. I’ve always enjoyed and had an interest in sociology, biology and psychology and I found that I had a natural talent, so choosing to study these subjects was an easy choice.

At the moment I don’t really have a direct plan for the future. I’m not sure if I want to go to university, for the time being I’m just concentrating on my exams and then I will explore my options.

A-Level Economics, Maths, Biology & Chemistry

My previous school didn’t offer economics as an A Level. I knew about Bedford College so I came to an Open Day and saw that the facilities were much better. I also attended the Taste of the Action Day which allowed me to experience what the College had to offer and decide if the subjects were the right ones for me. I definitely made the right decision, the College has offered me lots of different experiences and opportunities, I am a Student Legend and I have helped out at the Open Days.

I really enjoy my lessons, it’s a really motivating environment. I would like to continue studying science but I’m not too sure in what context. Whatever my final decision I know the tutors will help and support me along the way.
