Installing & Testing Domestic Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Certificate

Overview:

This award is intended for qualified electricians who will be required to install grid connected domestic photovoltaic systems that are either integrated into, or retro onto, a domestic dwelling. It is concerned with domestic systems installation within prescribed specifications and therefore does not cover design or glazed or curtain wall systems.

Entry requirements:

To start you must be a practising qualified electrician. If you are over 21 you may gain entry to the course subject to a successful interview, and will be considered individually on your experience rather than your qualifications.

Course content:

During the course you will cover topics including: - Photovoltaic systems - Standards, regulations, guidelines and code of practice - PV safety - System components - Approvals - Installation, commissioning, testing and fault finding.

Assessment methods:

Assessment is through an externally set and marked 1½ hour exam.

Further study/career options:

You can progress onto the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations course or C & G 2391 Inspection and testing Part P.

Additional information:

This is a part-time course which runs over 4 days.
