Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools CACHE Level 2 Award

This CACHE course will develop your confidence and practice if you are hoping to work as a teaching assistant in a school, or already help in a school. Approximately 5-10 hours of study a week are also required via our VLE programme. If you are studying this qualification at one of our learning centres, you will also be given the opportunity to achieve a qualification in ICT which will further enhance your CV to secure a position as a teaching assistant in the future.

Entry requirements

You will need to have an interest in working in a school as a teaching assistant. It would be useful, though not essential, to have connections with a school and perhaps be helping there. You will also need to display appropriate literacy skills to complete written assessments.

Course content

This course will provide you with the underpinning knowledge needed to progress to being a full Level 2 teaching assistant.

You will study a range of topics, including:

  • Understanding child and young person development
  • Understanding how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people
  • Communication
  • Schools as organisations
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion.

We recommend that a Paediatric First Aid Course also be completed.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods will be co-ordinated to suit your individual needs, ranging from written assignments, professional discussions, case studies and questioning.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this course you can progress to our Supporting Teaching & Learning Level 2 Certificate.
