If you are considering a career in teaching post-16 learners or if you are currently working as a verifier or assessor, our training courses are designed to help you improve your knowledge of working in education.

We have teaching and training course options that are suitable for individuals already working in the post-compulsory sector or as a trainer in the workplace, and our PTLLS course is ideal if you are looking to work in this area. We also offer TAQA qualifications.

Could you teach maths or English?

Our Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is designed for those looking to teach in the further education sector – and now bursaries of up to £25,000 are available to help pay for your course costs.

This one year, full-time course will give you work experience alongside a professional qualification validated by the University of Bedfordshire. It’s suitable for those with a degree, or those with a level three qualification, and aims to develop teachers in maths and English.

Depending on the pathway you choose and your degree result, you could qualify for a bursary of between £4,000 and £25,000 to help pay for course costs and more. Find out more.

Train to be a Teacher

Our Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (CertEd/PGCE) is designed for those looking to teach vocational based subjects in a college environment OR academic based subjects such as GCSEs and A-Levels, in a Sixth Form environment.

The Cert Ed/PGCE is a qualification for those who want to teach in the Adult Learning Sector (16-19) and is a University of Bedfordshire accredited Award. Both pathways lead to QTLS (Qualified Teacher in Learning and Skills) which is the main requirement to teach in Post-Compulsory Education. We have both part-time and full-time routes available.
