Viva Las Vegas at Bedford College's Hair & Beauty show

Hair & Beauty show 2009The glitz and glamour of Las Vegas came to town with the Bedford College Hair & Beauty show.

Always a sell-out, the annual event at the Bedford Corn Exchange, saw hundreds of students, models and staff entering into the world of Elvis impersonators, Vegas showgirls, quickie weddings and themed casinos.

From Ocean’s 11 to Hey Big Spender, the costumes, make-up and hair styles were as over the top as Las Vegas itself.

There were big winners too with £1,200 in BedfordBID vouchers being given away together with prizes from other sponsors like the City & Guilds.

This is the third year the event has been sponsored by the BedfordBID, which represents businesses in the town - including many in the hair and beauty line. BedfordBID took the chance to use the evening to promote its forthcoming Be Beautiful in Bedford campaign which starts on 22 June with special offers in a range of salons and spas.

Executive Director Mo Aswat said: “Bedford College students and staff are important customers for shops and businesses in Bedford. They are also future young entrepreneurs in the field, so this event is a great showcase for their talent and for Bedford.”

Chief Executive of Bedford College Ian Pryce was among the audience: “This is always a great show and we are very proud of the staff and students who do so much hard work to make better each and every year.”
