Student film maker takes on Three Peaks Challenge
Student film maker Richard Bennett is
not only taking part in one of the UK's ultimate challenges - the
Three Peaks - but will film the event for his final major project
and for the NACC (The National Association for Crohnes and Colitis)
charity website.
The Three Peaks Challenge is an attempt to
climb the three highest peaks in the UK in 'one go' within 24 hours
- Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. That means three mountains,
all over 3000 feet, with over 500 miles of driving in between, and
all with the clock ticking for completion in 24 hours.
Taking part with three other students from
Bedford and Shuttleworth Colleges, Richard is ready to take on this
tough event in order to raise money for his chosen charity and
says:
“I am raising money for the NACC, a charity
set up to help conduct research into Ulcerative Colitis and Crohnes
disease, both of which are illnesses which effect the digestive
track.”
“Both these illnesses cause horrible suffering
for people who are unfortunate enough to develop symptoms and at
this present time there is no known cure for
either.”
“Somebody very close to me suffers with
Ulcerative Colitis and this is why this is my chosen charity. I
have experienced first hand the problems these illnesses can cause
not only for people who suffer with them but also for the people
around them.”
“This is where you come in. Your donations, no
matter how small, will all go towards research into these terrible
diseases as well as helping to provide support for people who
suffer day in day out with these illnesses.”
Sean Doyle, Tutor/Course Manager, added:
“We are very proud of what Richard has set out
to achieve in this challenge. I have seen some of the film
footage Richard has already put together from training sessions and
the work looks very impressive. It is a very worthwhile and
ambitious endeavour for these young people to undertake. We
all look forward to seeing the finished film and we urge people to
