Students pass their 'Screen Test' with flying colours!
The red carpet may be about to stretch
from the streets of Bedford to those of Cannes! Bedford College
students staged a film festival, 'Screen Test', to showcase their
work - incredible films that could set film makers on their way to
a world renowned film festival.
Art, Design
& Media students studying the foundation degree
in Media Production at Bedford College and the University
Bedfordshire, staged 'Screen Test' at The Entertainment Shed venue
in Castle Road, as the culmination of two years study.
'Screen Test' premiered an explosive
collection of short films covering genres including animation,
trailers, documentaries and horror that took the audience on a
rollercoaster of emotions.
The highlight was the exclusive premier of
'The Man Who Built the World', shot at the Museum of Milton Keynes
and set in the Victorian age. Secrets unfold as the intensity of
the film develops and grips the audience.
Applause at the end of the evening recognised
the professional work of film students as they move on to the next
step of their career.
Sean Doyle (Media Lecturer at Bedford College)
explained that 'Screen Test' was part of the foundation degree and
not only involved the students in film production but in organising
and running the film night.
He added:
“Our talented students have worked on all
aspects of film production and tonight was proof of that work,
including organisation of the 'Screen Test'. We are proud of
these students who are now well placed to go on to further study or
to launch their careers in film production. The partnership
between Bedford College and the University of Bedfordshire makes
courses such as this foundation degree a real success and
offers students the best in teaching and facilities.”
