Quotidian exhibition at South Bank Arts Centre

An exhibition by artist Carolyn
Blake was launched at the South Bank Arts Centre at
Bedford College this January.
Quotidian is an exhibition of new work that
has been created around the everyday. The paintings draw the viewer
into Bedfordshire landscapes, highlighted by unusual weather
patterns and focusing on what happens to the time in between the
momentous and monumental.
Bedfordshire artist Carolyn Blake, a
Graduate of City & Guilds School of Art London (MA),
explained:
“The South Bank Arts Centre is an
excellent venue that provides space and light that paintings need.
This exhibition is concerned with reflections, recollections and
memories: the poetic in the everyday.”
The launch gave an opportunity for members of
Creative Bedfordshire and BCA (Bedford Creative Arts) to network
and generated a buzz of creative energy and ideas.
Sue Blackman (Director for Arts and
Sixth Form at Bedford College) said:
“The South Bank Arts Centre provides a
creative hub for artists, those interested in the arts and students
of art. Our gallery and theatre give us the opportunity to showcase
performance and contemporary art and design to the benefit of our
students and the community of Bedford. We are delighted to welcome
visiting artists such as Carolyn and members of Creative
Bedfordshire and Bedford Creative Arts.”
Quotidian is open from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm
Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 5.00 pm on Friday until the 29
February.
