LSC chief applauds College
Chief Executive of the Learning and Skills Council, Geoff
Russell, visited Bedford College to learn
how we are teaching the community about the importance of
sustainability.
Leading by example, the College is embedding green and
energy-saving ideas throughout our own organisation - in the
way we operates on campus and in what we teach.
Students in all subjects learn about the importance of going
green and how to take that approach, via their studies, into their
future workplaces.
College Director of Sustainability Esin Esat said: “It was quite
a feat for Bedford College to have the head of the
LSC coming here to see best practice in action.
“Bedford College is involved in a range of national,
regional and local projects to share our commitment to
sustainability with those around us.
“Schools, councils and businesses work and learn with Bedford
College through a range of activities.”
One of the more obvious areas of energy saving comes via
construction and water and heating systems. After leaving the
riverside main campus, Mr Russell visited the College’s Plumbing
Centre in Kempston where a range of courses are available to those building
and working on the homes of the future.
