With the General Election set for Thursday
6th May Bedford Borough Council is
encouraging electors across the borough to make sure they have
registered to vote if they want to have their say.
To make sure you able to take part in the
election you need to register to vote by Tuesday
20th April. If you aren’t already on the electoral
register you can download a form at www.bedford.gov.uk/voterform or
call into Bedford Town Hall to pick up a copy.
Advice on getting registered to vote will also
be available from the electoral services team who will be in
Bedford Town Centre on Saturday 17th April from 9am
to 5pm. Everyone visiting the team on their stall, at the hub in
the Harpur Centre, will be able to check they are on the register,
apply to be included on the register, apply to vote by post, apply
for a proxy vote and also ask for their details not to be available
for marketing purposes. A ‘bluetooth’ messaging unit will also
be broadcasting in the area reminding people that they have until
Tuesday, 20th April to register in order to
vote.
The result of the General Election counts for
Bedford and North East Bedfordshire Constituencies will be
announced following the election count after the close of polling
stations on Thursday 6th May.
