Close shave for Mayor

Assistant Director of Hair, Beauty & Complimentary Therapies Alison Barradell with BROOKS students and Mayor of Bedford, Dave HodgsonMayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson took time off from his busy schedule for a 60-second make-over at Bedford College's BROOKS hair and beauty spa.

More used to business meetings with Bedford College Chief Executive Ian Pryce, the Mayor instead met Alison Barradell, Assistant Director of Hair, Beauty & Complimentary Therapies and some of her talented team.

He had a beard trim and tidy courtesy of barber student Tony, and a relaxing hand massage and manicure from two top beauty therapy experts – before dashing off to yet more important meetings.

"I met some students in town on 11 November when they were promoting Colleges' Week in the Harpur Shopping Centre and decided I would like to take a closer look at BROOKS," said the Mayor.

Bedford College is proud to be a member and major contributor to the town centre BedfordBID fund and through that the local economy. Ian Pryce is chair of the BedfordBID which is currently working with the council to try and secure grant funding for High Street improvements.

The College has plans to move BROOKS to a High Street location in 2010 where students will be able to gain work experience in a brand new, fully equipped commercial environment.
